Where to eat in Davao: Hukad

chillwave mix (2)

Recently we are looking for a resto to celebrate my sister’s birthday then we found

The Resto does not look appealing only because it is nearly full and we have to wait for vacant seats but the interior design looks like homey and chill

(refer to photo above for Hukad menu and  current pricelist )

We ordered the Feast Bundles contains Chicken Tinola, Chicken Pandan, Crispy Pata XL, Fried Tuna Fingers, Adobong Talong, Unlimited Rice, Agua Fresca ( flavors ranges from mango, watermelon or strawberry)

The food is good for 4-6 person, I’m with four people and we tried to finish all the food but we can’t so it ended up we bring home the left overs. Comparing to other Restaurants out there that with the same price as this bundle, This is so far the bundle that could really satisfy your hunger with a superb taste!

we also ordered Halo – halo for PHP 110.00 but it does not satisfy my taste I feel like there’s more ice than the milk and for me it does not taste special looking to it’s price that’s kinda pricy

HUKAD  in Abreeza Ayala Malls
located at 2nd floor

If you’re looking for unlimited Rice all the way with a homey and chilling vibes feeling then this might be on your list

SMART announces free mobile live streaming of the inauguration of PH's first 'Social Media President’ via freenet

Filipinos will be able to watch the lives streaming of the June 30 inauguration of Rodrigo Duterte as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines, on mobile and for free.

Smart, TNT and Sun subscribers nationwide will be able to do this using freenet, the free data platform of Voyager Innovations, the digital innovations unit of PLDT and Smart Communications (Smart), in cooperation with Cignal TV.

Subscribers only need to download the freenet mobile app from the Google Play Store or the SafeZone app from the Apple App Store to view the free mobile livestream of Duterte’s inauguration on June 30 and take part in the historic event no matter where they may be in the country.

The occasion also marks the launch of the new freenet brand for Voyager’s sponsored data platform, previously called SafeZone. Through freenet, users will continue to be able to access select apps and websites for free by downloading the freenet app on their phones and never worry about unintended data charges. About 70 brands and enterprises are already using the freenet platform to allow their users to access their sites and apps for free.

“Just a few weeks ago, we told our subscribers to ‘Welcome Change’. In the coming days, we’ll all be witness to the coming of that change as we welcome the new leader of our country. Smart is proud to enable Filipinos to digitally participate in this occasion using their mobile devices for FREE, through freenet,” said Ariel P. Fermin, executive vice president and head of consumer business at Smart and PLDT.

“At Voyager we see a future with no digital divide, with each and every Filipino able to take part in the emerging digital economy. Giving them free livestream access to the next President’s inauguration is a step in our pursuit toward digitally enabling our citizens from today and beyond, through game-changing digital initiatives such as the newly rebranded freenet” added Orlando B. Vea, President and CEO at Voyager Innovations.

‘Social Media President’

Widely dubbed as the country’s first-ever “Social Media President” for having fullyutilized the power of social media during the elections, president-elect Duterte is expected to break tradition as he assumes the highest post in the land inside the Rizal Hall of Malacañang, instead of the usual bigger location at the Quirino Grandstand.

But despite having a more intimate venue, the incoming administration has vowed to letas many Filipinos witness the pivotal event with the aid of the same technology that helped Duterte get elected into office – social media.

With almost half of the country having access to the Internet via their mobile phones, millions of Filipinos are expected to tune in as the country welcomes a new President.

Aside from Duterte’s inauguration, June 30 likewise marks “Social Media Day” all around the world. In the Philippines, the occasion will be marked with a community event led by TweetUp Manila at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura Premier in Taguig City, a celebration supported by Smart, Voyager Innovations and PayMaya Philippines.

With the theme “#TayoPH,” the event sets forth a reminder that social media can be used to bridge, to give a voice and to empower citizens– the way it did during the last elections.

“With the most digitally engaged elections we have witnessed so far, we have seen people use social media to advance their causes but also, sadly, to put down others with a different point of view,” added Voyager Innovations Chief Operating Officer Benjie Fernandez. “As we witness the coming of change promised by the new President, let us also remember the critical role of social media and digital innovations for social good and the socio-economic development of our fellow Filipinos.”

Through game-changing digital platforms such as freenet, Fernandez said Voyager Innovations aids in the digital and financial inclusions of Filipinos with the help of technology. Among the areas of digital life that its platforms and services are enabling include financial technology, digital commerce, rich mobile marketing, digital payments and next-generation communications.

Mad Hatter Tea and Crepes at Abreeza Ayala Mall Davao City

Tea and crepe shops has been burgeoning nowadays in the city and they all wanted to offer a homey style for everyone to feel comfortable while drinking their favorite Tea flavor.

One of the Tea shops that’s invading the city is the Mad Hatter Tea & Crepes that had it’s Grand launching at 3rd Floor Abreeza Ayala Mall last December 21, 2014

The design and style of the shop was inspired from alice in the wonderland where in you can find big books and big clocks as the interior over their counter

they don’t just offered Tea’s but also this munching special flavored bread

Above all this special rice cake known as bibingka caught my attention so far this is the best bibingka I’ve tasted as things like this that can be found on the mall doesn’t really taste that good

Ms. Cathy Binag (the owner) with the staff behind the Mad Hatter Tea and Crerepes having a good time

FOOD: ★★★

The food was satisfying and the combining of sinkers or adds-on will bring much more the fun in your Milk Teas

BUDGET: PHP 40.00 and above, if you’re in budget you could try first the jasmine Green tea and Ceylon Black Tea

Mad Hatter Tea and Crepes Price list (the price list as for the moment)

The shop was located near the cinemas thus the lighthing ambient was not that good unlike other tea shops that has a wide glass windows and the division between the cinema and the tea shop will not be appreciated for people who want to stay longer at the place just imagining you’re having you food and there is short distance between you and the people who’s going to watched cinema but in the totality if you’re with friends happened to go to Abreeza don’t forget to visit this shop in the corner they will not fail you to offer you their different flavors of tea and crepes

JavaJive Bajada Davao City (music cafe)

Nowadays coffee shops, Tea house, Resto Bars and other places that anyone can relax or have fun with friends are in trend this year where student like me can stay and spend their time studying or just hangout with friends but at the same time also love to relax with the touch of the Davao music scene
happily I’ve discovered one of the music cafe here in Davao City the JavaJive
What is it? JavaJive Inc. is the mind behind JavaJive (Coffee-Tea-Soda-Music). Last November 30 2014 good folks from JavaJive Inc. organized a bloggers night in which they shared with us what can javajive has to offer with the Davaowenyos and now that they already have their newest branch JavaJive Strings (Bajada) . With it’s mother branch located at 1.18 Centron Bldg., Quirino Avenue, Davao City  and has an exclusive parking area for its  guests and boasts of its soon-to-be-completed first-ever electronichydraulic parking in Davao City.
The place: The at-home experience makes everyone feels comfortable with Filipino-theme music cafe where on can drink local coffee, tea and soda blends and the unique interior design of music-themed wall design: Guitar strings where it was connected from the stage way up above into the ceiling. With It’s strong WIFI connection, Free Gadget charging outlets, and a warm-lighting set-up that complete the at-home ambiance
The music cafe: One thing the I really adore about this cafe is that they really wanted to Uplift OPM (Original Filipino Music) and FilSCAP (Filipino Society of Composer, Authors and Publishers) thru
live stage performances from best Davao music talents during Wednesday, Friday and Weekends.
While we are having our food this awesome guys also performed they didn’t disappoint us from representing the Davao music scene thru them.
The Echoistic Band
The Negative 4
The food: well we all know that this is the most awaiting part of this article the revealing of the food in that night so here it goes we start from
a.) Savory dishes:
Tuna Salad on Ciabatta – a hefty mix of tuna in brine, organic mayonnaise, mixed herbs and chopped shallots, sliced cucumber and green lettuce served on a white Ciabatta bread. Taste of the fresh organic picked ingredients and the savor of the Tuna spread covered up my tongue beautifully creamy with a bite of Ciabatta bread

Tuna Salad on Ciabatta

• Chicken Pesto on Focaccia– a mix of shredded chicken white meat, onions and a home-made pesto sauce (fresh basil, mixed nuts and almonds, olive oil and herbs), sliced cucumber, and green lettuce served on a herbed focaccia bread. The taste is also so refreshing and wanting me to get another one of it and maybe looked simple but it’s flavorful.

Chicken Pesto on Focaccia

Henri’s Bowl– named after a Frenchman who shared this authentic french recipe to JavaJive, “Seafood Marinara” a pasta dish made with penne and bolognese sauce (whole tomato, herbs and seafood-beef stock), topped with freshly sauteed sliced seafoods (malasugue, shrimps, octopus and or clams). Have you already tasted something so good? “That’s good” that was our comment as we bit into lusciously creamy bolognese sauce with this natural taste of pasta this really taste fresh, healthy and refreshing this is something you have to taste if you happened to visit JavaJive.

b.) Dessert Station:

•The Belgian Chocolate Mousse- a classic 75% dark chocolate mousse topped with a hand-crafted chocolate tuile. This choloate mouse was topped by a musical logo that embodies the over all OPM and Acapella Jazz theme of JavaJive. On the other hand the texture was filled by creamy and thick sensation actually I’ve also used this Chocolate mousse as spread on Banana Crunch how lovely isn’t?

The Belgian Chocolate Mousse

Les Opera Moist Cake a signature chocolate cake (base of The JavaJive’s Choco Lava Ala Mode) topped with an italian chocolate ganache and pinned with edible gold. A little bit of silky texture that would somehow melt in your mouth yet it’s not so sweet! it has this smooth sensation when you tasted this moist cake.

Les Opera Moist Cake
Banana Crunch– a JavaJive best seller cupcake made with ripened bananas and white cake base, topped with crunchy biscuit bits. The goodness of banana in a cup this delighting some what cupcake
is for me good to be paired with Chocolate mousse! and definitely perfect for Milk tea.

c.) Beverages
•Salted Caramel Milk Tea with Salt & Cheese- JavaJive Bajada’s Newest Best-seller: a Jazz-blend of authentic Taiwan black tea hand-shaken with Salted Caramel Sauce, topped with a salt & cheese concoction mixture. This is quite salty and after a first sipped some what I can’t take another try well maybe they just poured a bit big amount of salt well maybe next time it would come up to be a good sip of it and I believe this is really good only if it was decentralize.

Salted Caramel Milk Tea with Salt & Cheese

 • Milk teaafter we have tasted the Salted Caramel Milk Tea with Salt & Cheese they serve immediately a milk tea which is a relief who can resist this creamy milk tea that coated my tongue after a while?

milk tea
•The Chocolate Chip Peppermint Twist- JavaJive’s Christmas Holiday Drink: a Jazz-blend of our signature Chocolate Chip Serenade and Peppermint Syrup. A whole cool and fresh way to enjoy Christmas! Well maybe you should definitely try this before December will say goodbye the toppings says Have a Merry Merry Christmas! the sweetness was just right quite milky offering with a little watery consistency.

The Chocolate Chip Peppermint Twist
The price: as for the present time (this is not the complete lists of prices maybe have some time to visit their branches for more accurate list of prices)

Lay bare at SM Davao Ecoland

How is you Summer rolling? have you already go to your favorite beach and expose yourself into the dazzling and hot Mr. sun? if not then you still have time to do it and to prepare for it don’t be scared and step into the sun together with the LAY BARE located at 2nd floor of SM Ecoland near Annex building they opened last April 5 2013

So to give you an idea about Lay bare it’s a waxing salon that use cold sugar wax jelly that made of sugar, Kalamansi and honey the combination looks like a peanut butter. I tell you I don’t usually go into a salon like this but when I have my chance I didn’t hesitate to try it imagining I’m wanting this for so long before If I have events to attend and dress in the formal outfit I just use shave to cut my hair on my feet but when it grows the texture of the hair really ruins and it became more darker and the growth of the hair is different from one another and it really sucks when I’m wearing my pants.

but last May 27 it all stop there and I find a new way to my old way I avail the Half leg (from toes to knees) for Php 330.00 and Underarm for Php 170.00 all cost for Php 500

The session start with my underarm the girl that assist me told me that it really hurt when it’s you first time in waxing but has a good effect compared to shaving she said that shaving can make the underarm dark and so it is kind of ouch for the first timers like me but I’m just thinking “Gandang tiis lang” I want to try wax and so I should carry on the pain (inhale and exhale) next is my half leg and for me I conclude that waxing at the back part of the legs is more painful (but don’t be scared just carry on)
the salon hours will depend on the mall hours if the mall will extend they will also extend their time plus the personnel that will assist you is really nice somehow you can talk to them to ease your mind set about the pain and overall I enjoyed my stay in Lay bare it will not last for hour thought just enjoy the moment and Lay Bare plus the facilities is a plus factor

overall the facilities, personnel and pricing of the Lay Bare is good having a professional personnel and the pricing is good knowing that the service has a class.

Carmen’s Garden Bistro at Quirino Davao City

Have you imagine yourself sitting in a wooden chair while eating french cuisine with a touch of Filipino style plus a serenade from their singer accompanied by a guitar and saxophone playing the Greatest hits from all time? Oh well if not yet then Carmen’s Garden Bistro is a must visit for you

Carmen’s Garden Bistro
is located a Ping low building (fronting JavaJive Quirino), Davao City

Last May 30 Davao Bloggers was invited to have a Bloggers Dinner with them. When I got there I see a romantic destination, an elegant, fine dinning and comfortable buffet restaurant

French onion soup

When we (I’m with my fellow blogger and sister Lysafae) got to our sit they offered as this
French onion soup as a starter the soup classically based with beef as this soup welcome me so it feels as I’m ready to take a new venture with this restaurant

to start the colorful salad bar with 4 salad dressing to choose from Caesar, thousand island, honey and cheese (actually the dressing name is much longer than what you expected but I’ll just giving you the layman’s term) on it is a cucumber, tomato, slightly ripe mangoes and more… the dressing really matched with the vegetables and honey really gets my attention at first taste it will give you a blast taste then after a while it feels like it will give you a soft sensation

beef steak

The meal of the night is served and after those light food I will go on to this simple yet excellent beef steak presentation. The beef itself prepared to tender taste buds it’s so soft that it isn’t uneasy for me to slice it and the juicy effect of the gravy like sauce on it’s top make it more tasty to eat and I’m eagerly anticipated to see if the beef will matches the mashed potato and a corn with green peas on sight yet they don’t disappoint me the standing potato really tasted good! so yummy that I spread it to my beef plus this corn and green peas has something to taste like there is a wine on it and it really tasted so special the Dinner delivered more deliciously when the light taste wine was served and I really believed it was a perfect drink after eating beef right?

beef Kaldereta

We are served a Filipino all time favorite food the beef Kaldereta and It’s a good experience eating this original style at this fancy Restaurant like the beaf steak it’s so soft that isn’t hard for me to chew Kaldereta scented the air and this mouth watering food really makes the “lutong bahay” special

Italian Seafood Paella

After we also their Italian Seafood Paella it sounds delicious right? revealing it’s sea food taste crabs and mussel is the main Ingredients of this paella though beef slices is also on the sight the rice taste like they use a Glutinous rice aka Malagkit rice that one that is used in biko and other filipino food delicacies it’s sticky yet this made my Dinner complete because of the rice like my Dinner would not be completed without this premium taste paella

Although after tasting the paella my taste buds is looking for something a different taste to end my Dinner session with the bloggers, Carmen’s featured their (from left to right in last picture) chocolate mousse, Choco fondant and cheese cake all in one plate! (it takes my breath away) to begin my first scoop with chocolate mousse it taste like caramel but not sweet actually it’s creamy as i had my first bite I closed my eyes and imagine myself in a 5 star Restaurant the texture was so fluffy the next move I’ve done is tasting the choco fondant with its soft texture taste like heaven that’s so pure same with the chesse cake it does not taste so sweet that your throat hurts it’s simple creamy and pure I’ll recommend this to the people that is scared to taste sweet chocolate desserts and I’ll introduce them to this lovely not that sweet but delighting mounth watering, yummy choco and cake

One of the things that I also like in Carmen’s Garden Bistro is the Environment when you’re there the sight of colorful ceiling, wooden tables and chairs represents the Filipino hospitable attitude plus they also have a mini Garden at their backyard.

Indeed Carmen’s is a good place to visit without going far to try European Classic Dishes in a Filipino wacky style not only that they also offers your all time favorite Filipino home style cooking

The Resto is a must be on the list when visiting Davao City the standard can well competent with other bigger Resto though I’ve notice that some of the personnel needs to communicate more with the customers and just relaxed when approaching them because I can really feel the tense on them yet overall it’s a beautiful place to visit hanging out with family and friends just sit back and taste the food at Carmen’s Garden Bistro

Pineapple Crumble at Backyard Burgers Ecoland Davao City

It’s been always a crave for food after working out for 2 and 1/2 hours making me think to eat tasty delighting food in the other side of the story Backyad Burgers have it’s tasting event on their Pineapple Crumble by Davao bloggers thru Jonas fellow blogger and knowing the event it didn’t made me think twice to come (of course!). When I got there with my sister, Dan the baker behind the Pineapple Crumble talked about this delighting food he also shared that when he baked Pineapple after putting it on the refrigerator the next morning there is an appearance of tiny slices on it’s sides which is made possible by his brother oh well in that moment I want to grab the unsliced Pineapple infront of me and eat it whole but the long wait is over and favorite part the tasting of this delighting food.

closer look

I can really say that this is not your ordinary pie! at first glance this pie has it’s own twist on it’s crumble texture on it’s top together with the amazing taste of this special peanuts the first bite made me smile for seconds for it’s softness that melts into my tongue together with the taste of fresh harvest pineapple from Bukidnon as I took another bite I found my sister (lysafae) and friend (Jaiza) very satisfied as they finished tasting their Pineapple crumble but I can’t stop thinking how lovely to come up with this innovative Idea because it really tasted good that the Pineapple cuts blended with creamy but not that sweet toppings. Stopping at Backyard Burgers and having this Pineapple crumble as one of it’s Edition from Mercedes is all worth it. Dabawenyos who loves this pie you don’t necessarily have to go to Cagayan de Oro (where the pie originated made by Mercedes) to taste this pie you can have this now at your nearest BB branches for
Php 90 per slice.

The event don’t end here BB backyard won’t let us go home without tasting their burger of course!

with it’s beef and Kimchi the taste of spicy filling with very tasteful buns
this is a great taste for those who’s searching for special and mild spicy burger
the combo together with the black sesame seeds and cheese make it a flavorful BB Korean Burger

Two is better than one right? Spicy Bacon is on the list for us it’s a much spicy version with crunchy ingredients on it flavors all collide to give our taste buds a satisfying and fulfilling spicy bacon taste.
